An Absurd Thing I Do
When I first thought about the absurdity in my life, a lot of what came to me were symptoms of my OCD. But if absurdity is defined as “unreasonable” or “incongruous”, those behaviors don’t really fall under that category now that I have a greater understanding of why they happen.
So upon reflection, I decided that the amount of time I spend talking to my cat is definitely absurd. I don’t really think there is a single reason to do it besides calling her when I’m looking for her and even then, I’m still unsure to this day how much I think she understands my different words or just the tone of or energy behind my voice. Still, I speak to her a lot. She can’t understand a single thing nor does she respond, and yet our conversations are riveting. I know I’m not the only person who does this, but that doesn’t make it less absurd to me.
Her name is Douma.
